Carita Holmström was born in Helsinki 1954. She is a pianist, singer, arranger and guitarist whose broad musicianship has formed her into a border-breaking composer.
Since her first record We are what we do 1973 with her own Folk, Latin and Jazz inspired songs she has gradually moved towards classical Chamber music, Theatre music including Musicals and Dance works, Song cycles in a broad range of styles, Choral music, Organ and Church music. She has also by now released 7 records with mostly her own songs, the latest being My Diary of Songs, released in 2010.

Varde ljus!- a Sacral Suite, 2013, for Soprano, Alto, Choir, Church Organ and Quintet to lyrics by Finnish-Swedish poet Susanne Ringell.
Since 1983 she has been a lector in piano music with emphasis on improvisation at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.
